Requesting your medication

We encourage all patients to order your repeat prescriptions electronically:

  • via the NHS app
  • via SystmOnline
  • via your nominated pharmacy

Alternatively if this is not possbible:

  • by indicating the items you require on the tear-off slip of your prescription, and returning it in at the practice reception

You may have new or regular medication that will not be on your repeats as we need closer monitoring. This will be checked by a clinician and we may need further information.

Our staff can not accept requests via telephone or email.

Please note:

  • if you have been prescribed medication by a Private Doctor please fulfil this as a private prescription. Please see further information below.
  • if you have been given a hospital outpatient prescription please collect this from the hospital outpatient pharmacy.
  • if a hospital doctor has asked you to start medication we suggest you ask them to prescribe this for you if it is time critical as we endeavour to deal with routine medication recommendations within 10 working days.

Do

  • Allow 72 hours for your repeats to be checked and issued
  • Ensure you have enough medication left before you put a request through to us
  • Make sure you are up to date with any monitoring bloods that are required for your medication
  • Let us know if you think you will miss a dose of medication

Don't

  • forget to book in your regular health checks / medication reviews
  • Request your medication too early as this will not be issued
  • Request medication that has been declined unless you have spoken to a clinician or provided supplementary information that has been requested

Private Prescriptions

As an NHS provider, we are under no obligation to provide private prescriptions or issue medications recommended by a Private Doctor.

We do consider each request on an individual basis, and not all requests can be fulfilled. We advise you keep an ongoing relationship with your Private Doctor for any times when we are unable to prescribe or to continue your medication.

Things we consider:

  • First issue must be provided by the Private Doctor.
  • Further issues requested must be acompanied by a clinic letter from your Private Doctor when you are established on treatment.
  • Whether this a licensed product for the condition being treated.

When we cannot fulfil your request we will communicate this to you and where possible, your Private Doctor. You will need to request your ongoing prescriptions from their team.
