Non - NHS fees & Charges

Fees

About Charging Fees

The NHS provides most health care free of charge. However there are a number of other services for which fees can be charged. These are mainly for services not covered by the NHS, such as medical reports for insurance companies. Doctors are involved in a whole range of non-medical work, largely on the basis that they occupy a position of trust within the community, and are in the position to verify the accuracy of information. If a GP signs a certificate or completes a report, it is a professional duty that s(he) checks the accuracy of such information. This may involve examining the patient's entire medical record.

We do not partake in any firearms licenising/certification process. The British Medical Association (BMA) debated the role of GPs in making decisions regarding firearms’ licencing and concluded that GPs should NOT be involved in these decisions. The BMA advised that this is a decision that should be made by a suitably qualified practitioner who has specialist skills and training in deciding whether a person is safe to hold a firearm’s licence.
Therefore as a practice, we refuse to engage in the firearms certification process on grounds of conscientious objection.

We do not participate in any third party aggreement for trvael, eg: fit to fly certificate.
